My retired neighbor told me that he bought a 2011 Chevy Impala LTZ for 32k cash. I think that he was waiting for me to ooh and aah over his financial “coup.” I have yet to see a single GM vehicle worth that much, so I had to fake my glee for him. My personal problems with GM vehicles make me only laugh when I see boneheads spend that kind of money on a car, especially for a cheap GM car.

WRONG- Sentra > Cavalier.

Even a 1993 Sentra is better than a 2001 Crapalier

Cavalier is the biggest piece of shit on earth and has a water bottle interior and a fucked up 2.2L OHV 4 cylinder.

Sentra destroys Cavalier in: build quality, gas mileage, reliability, etc.

Another thing, the big three always change the names of cars. I’m not talking the risky attempt at trend bucking (Aztec, Montana, Silhouette, PT Loser, prowler, new T-Bird) but ones that didn’t go over well and were Major mainstream cars in the line-up that the public turned on due to everyone telling them they are Lemons. Caviler, Cobalt, Escort, Mystic, Alero, Aspire, Contour, Stratus, Neon, Cirrus, Sebring, Interpid, LHS! They magically become Focus or Cruze or Nitro till time to change the names again.

What’s with all the defunct names? Simple, when your friend, co-worker or brother-in Law tell you what a POS that car was you’ll say oh well that was a Whatever and this is a Chevy Equinox. Yeah, isn’t that the small thing that takes 85 foot to turn? More than a Tahoe XL! TAlk about poor engineering. When they think you forgot they role em out again. Fiesta, Taurus back again.

Meantime the Japanese make Civics, Accords, Corollas, Maximas and Camrys for decades. No need to change the names to fool people.

American cars are Trannys pretending to be Marylin Monroe. Seems they fool many who never notice the cheap plastics. Enjoy the cheap interiors and soon to be faded headlights. Chrysler is the worst. Their cars look 15 years old in two years due to old styling and faded headlights. Been the case since they went to plastic headlights. They must tell their supplier to make them super cheap. Same with their paint that fades.

I don’t care for American cars cause they always prove to be lemons. Big Three always promise this one is good and those old ones were junk, sorry about that friend. Pulled the door handle on a brand new Dodge Intrepid in 1992, which were branded as quality, aren’t they all! It drug and didn’t operate smoothly, got stuck. Never saw an interpid, neon, stratus or Sirrus that wasn’t smoking. Those cars didn’t stay on the road long. Rent a Dodge Magnum with a sharp burr on the inside handle. Rent a Pontiac GP with the same cheap handles. Out sourcing!

My mother loves Buicks. At 60k she starts talking about being scared to drive far cause it’s getting worn out. WTF? I got 180k on my Mazda and will consider it a dud if it doesn’t get to 220k. The Lesabre had all four window regulators go out before 80k. Tires never keep pressure. Wheels must have a leak as her other three Buicks did the sane thing. Two had alternators died at about 60k, the other at 80k, the radio at 90k. Transmission died in one at 40k.

Love people that defend GM and claim the reason their cars run like a top is their maintenance. If anything I baby the GMs more than my car. Love the fiction too that Japanese cars are pampered. You see people all the time that have never even washed their Honda and Toyotas but have 200k+ on them. Supposed to believe someone with a filthy car is constantly maintaining it? Meantime a shiny new GM is broke down. Rare is the 65000 dollar Tahoe with both brake lights working.

Fords always have electric and tranny problems.

I’d like to buy American but they are a joke. 100,000 is a major milestone. Sure the Trucks go further but they a rattle traps. Squeak, creek, pop, clank.

i think back to a time when i was 16. I was camping by a river with my family and friends. We have a 84 CP boatthat my dad use to race it was there and i remember hearing the most awsome sound and it was the jet boat being race. a thunder roar from a mile or so a way from a 468 big block supercharged 750 hp engine most of all a CHEVROLET!!!! Oh and try not to get upset all you die hard american car lovers, cos im not trying to be insulting, im just saying… in the UK and Europe American cars have a reputation for being badly built, too big, too thirsty, underpowered, badly handling piles of junk. Someone once said America has a disposable, throw away society and this is reflected in you’re cars. I suppose you’re cars are pretty cheap though, the average small car over here is around £10,000 ($16,500 at time of writing)

I live in the UK, and the most abundant GM car brand here is Vauxhall (Opel in europe)and let me tell you they are SHIT! They never just suffer minor problems like say a wheel bearing goes or an injector dies, its always something like the oil pump dies (causing the pistons to weld themselves into the cylinders) or like my friends 1 year old, 5000 mile Corsa that snapped a timing chain, destroying the engine, another friends altenator went on fire destroying the front of the car (3 year old, 20,000 mile Astra)The red paint they use is shit cos when the car gets to about 8 yrs old it turns pink, Another common fault on corsa’s is the windscreen wiper motors are prone to getting full of water, shorting them out during the rain, when you need them most.
I drive a 12 year old 150,000 mile Nissan Primera (Infiniti G20 in the US)and its never missed a heartbeat, i laugh at people in their broken down 6 year old vauxhalls that look like they should be scrapped, HAHA you bought the wrong car fool. Anyway all you lot moaning about American haters, buy a Ford, they have a good reputation in the UK, (Ford Focus is excellent)

I’m guessing you retarded jap crap lovers are a bunch of American hating liberals. I own a ’97 Ford F-150 XLT and have had it since it was brand new. It has 137,000 miles on it and it runs perfectly. My 2 year old Fusion Hybrid gets somewhere near 40 MPG and is of much higher quality than any gay peice of jap crap. The Fusion completely puts that gay peice of crap prius to shame. Besides, who wants to drive a car with a name that sounds like penis.

I love GM cars and trucks I DRIVE A 2002 Buick LaSabre. I have a 1989 GMC P/U and my wife drives a 1997 Saturn. All have had few issues. I believe in buying American. That said, GM is still making old Tech gas eaters. Their 6 speed trans behind a 4 cyl. is the best they have to offer for fuel economy. There is the hybrid, but both are still over priced losers.
w/nice interiors. I want to buy a new GM product and I cannot see spending 30-40 thousand dollars for 16-32 MPG. I am very sorry to see made in America mean Old Tech fuel economy with leather interior. I will wait until 2012 and see if their act will come together. Given the price of GAS I may have to change my ways, before GM changes theirs.

Have any of you considered that GM is just evil greedy genius? I have worked in a tool and die shop that made prototype dies for parts for gm vehicles. We build a prototype then they send it to china to be rebuilt into a production die, then set up for mass production. Meanwhile a prototype die is nowhere near durable enough for production so it wears out and accounts for poorly fitted components. Then it’s reverse engineered and re built and put back into production. But it’s slightly different from the original, so that accounts for the inconsistency of gm components. Honest quality control in china? should I mention melamine baby formula and leaded jewellery? So this makes it very cheap for them because north american workers aren’t cheap in comparison to chinese workers, nor are engineers and so on. Then you have a bunch of guys who have an overwhelming sense of entitlement andunionized cushyness ( ability to get paid well to do as little as possible) putting it all together what do you get? Something that breaks down all the time. Why is this a “good” thing you ask? Well someone has to get paid to warehouse, stock, inventory, deliver, ship, diagnose, install blablabla the part that failed. So how many jobs has that created? lots! Bad for the consumer, but great for gm. I currently work at a gm dealer and I can tell you from what i see from day to day, We have a constant flow of cars and trucks new and old with huge problems every day. So gm makes lots of money from every end of it, from the the new car show room to parts sales to service costs. They build cheap and sell high and sell lots. They get their cake and eat it too. But they got greedy… really greedy and they went too far. People have caught on. Every day I feel so bad for people who come into the dealership. Something I hear every day that I would like to share ” but it’s not even a year old, how could it have such big problems”. Now the japanese makers are smart, they don’t rely on constant service costs, they go for the long haul. They figure if the customer is happy when the time comes… they will buy again. Not false loyalty because thats what daddy drove, but because they were really satisfied. They do cost a bit more, but you always get what you pay for. An extra $2000you say?? My goodness… But you get metal parts instead of plastic ones that break all the time, you get things that fit well and don’t wear out prematurely, things that are made to .001″ tolerances rather than .020″. I could go on and on and on but I will fill you in on one thing, more than half of the mechanics at my gm dealer drive japanese or non gm vehicles… What does that tell you. That’s not to say they don’t love gm… of course they do! because every gm car means dinner on their family’s table. So in summation, I say gm is just plain cheap, greedy evil and almost genius. But they have been caught red handed and people are catching on.
