The only help I can offer is that I also got a S.M.A.R.T. warning shortly before my HDD died - fortunately it was not my Primary (system) disk.

If your computer is your business then smarten up!
RAID 1 your drives.
Have RAID spares.
Get a Hardward RAID card.
Replace drives on a regular basis and NOT when they fail.
IDE drive: Replace within two years...I suggest one. If you RAID 1 then use three drives and replace an active one every year.

I think I know what happened. He activated a disability mode for the keyboard. He activated something called Slow Keys by holding the right shift key down for more than 8 seconds.

To turn it off, I think you need to hold the right shift key down for 8 seconds again. A popup window will come up. Hit the cancel button.

Hello, I have a key board problem that is not the keyboard because I tried a new keyboard and had the same problem. I have a dell computer with windows xp home edition. When I type if I use the same letter twice in a row I have to wait 2 seconds before I can type the letter again. Also when I use backspace I have to push it,let go and wait 2 seconds then push it again to delete the next letter. Also there is click sound in the computer every time I push a key that wasn't there before. This all started when my grandson played on the computer several hours. He doesn't know what he did. Every thing else works fine. I have tried everything I can and can't figure it out. It is very annoying. I hope you can figure it out. Thanks
