I came home today, and found a bunch of tree remains along the street in front of my neighbor’s house. Apparently they had taken a tree down. My neighbor’s live in a $400,000 house which is pretty pricey in our area. Our house didn’t cost half of that. But I saw the wood, and thought cool! Free firewood! So I drug all except the smaller branches up into my driveway, where I will cut them up, and stack them for next winter. I figure I got enough free wood to heat our house for a day or three. Our neighbor’s have only lived there for a year or so, so we really don’t know them other than the occasional friendly wave. I wouldn’t be surprised if the neighbors think we are poor. BTW, my 401k broke a quarter of a million dollars this last week! I am more than happy to take free firewood!

Wow, 250k sitting in the bank and you’re dragging in wood off the street. I would rather have 249k in the bank and a little pride. But to each their own, huh? Such greed.

I have pride. I also have free wood. You should read the book The Millionaire Next Door. Great book.
