5 comments about The Compleat Day Trader II (Compleat Day Trader).
  1. Having read many books on Day Trading and attended courses and seminars, this book added "confidence". It gives you simple systems to work with, 30MBO, InsideDays, Gaps, etc.. It also tells you what the indicators lack and what most traders lack to succeed, discipline. Use the 30MBO but don't change the method. Stick to it. Be disciplined. Aimed at the futures and commodities traders, these methods also work with fast high volume, high votility stocks. I emailed Jake with a question on the 30MBO and got a reply in hours, that's value. I have ordered his next book, "The Complete Guide to Day Trading Stock". Can't wait. I cannot see how anyone (who is not a beginner) would not benefit from this book.

  2. Reading this book is purely a watse of your time. Buying it is absolutely waste of your money.

The only thing you can learn from it is that the author probably makes more money by selling hot topic books than from trading.

  3. Mr. Bernstein writes a book almost every month. He certainly is a prolific writer--my question is when does he have time to trade??

  4. I feel that Day Tader II is really a rip-off as it basically just reguritates most of the material found in volume one. THIS is typical Bernstein -- the goal is dollars from book sales, not educating the reader. Mr. Bernstein does not respect his readers, and this is the sad part because he obviously is a highly intelligent man who probably could contribute a lot to the field of daytrading education if he weren't so needy and greedy. I wouldn't go so far as to call him "Jake the Snake", but I do think he should put more care into the content of his books.

  5. Save your money. Never, never waste your funds on the drivel this author produces!!

A profitable trader would never have time enough to write even one tenth the quantity of words this person produces.

Find traders that actually make money to learn from. There are a few that have written good books.

    As starting points:
For equities traders try: Professional Stock Trading
For futures traders try: Trading Day by Day

These are simply starting points, but are written by REAL traders, not worthless-book producers.

2 comments about Listed Stock Options: The Hands-One Study Guide for Investors & Traders, Revised Edition.
  1. The book starts out explaining the basics of options and then goes on to explain spreads, straddles and strangles, hedging, repair strategy, and a brief discussion of leaps. For a middle of the road investor it brought to light several strategies that I'd been trying to understand. Making me a more informed investor.

  2. This slim green book is a study guide, yet it offers real world examples, chapters on simple option strategies and presents its ideas in clear, short chapters. It is still options 101, not hype 101 (for that entertaining course, see Wade Cook's Wall St. Money Machine).

But the low cost book will serve you as well as Natenber's big green bible on Option Volatility, or Kolb's thick black finance course called Understanding Options.

3 comments about The WealthLoop Series Beginner's Guide to Building Wealth Buying Houses (Combo Audio/Data CD): Author's Audio Commentary Plus Downloadable 32-page Marketing Manual, Checklists, Spreadsheets, and Forms.
  1. For the complete picture of how the WealthLoop System works, the Book is a Must Have addition to the CD:

The WealthLoop Series Beginner's Guide to Building Wealth Buying Houses: The Foolproof Roadmap to Real Estate Riches Without the Risks and Hassles of Landlording

    Also worth looking into:

The WealthLoop Series Beginner's Guide to Personal Wealth Creation (Combo Audio/Data CD): Audio Seminar With Downloadable 40-Page Action Manual and Active Link Library.

  2. What a terrific follow-up to the "Beginner's Guide to Building Wealth Buying Houses", and probably a necessary supplement for anyone interested in implementing the author's plan for creating wealth streams. The CD not only contains the author's detailed explanation of his system, it also contains a marketing manual as well as many forms and checklists that you will find invaluable, especially if this is your first run at real estate investment.

But whether you are a novice or a seasoned pro, you will find this book very helpful, if not essential.

  3. The radio interview reinforced some of the
points of the book. The documents on the CD
    look very comprehensive and organized.
Looks like John thought of everything.
    I am pleased!

1 comments about Naked Puts: Power Strategies for Consistent Profits.
  1. If you are thinking about becoming a paid member of the authors' website this book may be for you. The book explains how to use the web site for picking option plays and tracking them. The cost is $59.95 per month.

If you are looking for a book that explains how to trade naked puts, this is not the book for you. The information supplied is very basic. A better book to learn the basics is The Options Playbook.

If you want a good book that explains how to sell naked puts and use covered calls to generate cash, I highly recommend the book Generate Thousands in Cash on your Stocks Before Buying or Selling Them: Third Edition. This book not only has many real life examples of actual trades, it will also get you excited about doing similar trades that work. I have been using the method and it does work.

One other comment about the book Naked Puts. The last chapter summarizes how much you would have made if you followed the option trades that the software recommended for one year from April 2006 to April 2007. Under the moderate strategy you would have made an annual return of 10.4%, under the conservative strategy you would have earned 6.2% and under the agressive strategy you would have lost -2.4%. These returns did not include brokerage which would reduce them. The number of trades that you would have made during this time frame was astronimical, 83 for moderate, 233 for conservative, and 184 for aggressive.

I can tell you from personal experience, you can do a lot better than these returns.

Save your money and your time.

5 comments about Covered Call Writing Demystified: Double-Digit Returns on Stocks in a Slower Growth Market for the Conservative Investor.
  1. I am a professional trader, in other words I have been making a living exclusively trading stocks and options for the past few years.
My experience has been that covered call strategy is low risk only if you have the right timing techniques to alert you to reversals. Unfortunately this book lacks in that area.
Let us take the example where you get a $1 premium on a $20 stock by selling a covered call say at a $20 strike. It is true that if the stock declines to $15 you lose $4. If on the other hand you had the timing techniques that could alert you to a reversal , you should have bought the $20 strike call back with say the stock at $19 for $0.25 making a $0.75 profit and sold a $15 strike call for $4+ which you can then close for a profit when the stock goes to $15. Waiting for the option to expire is not always the right strategy. The issue is how can you tell if there is a pending reversal and this is where timing is critical . Using these strategies you can indeed achieve double digit returns just by taking advantage of the stock short term movements.
While this book is a good introduction;to get the most benefit from this book you need to supplement it with another that focuses more on timing.

  2. Too simple. Explain simple points in length boring stories. It wastes my money and time.

  3. I generally will not trash a book that is targeted at the novice but this will be an exception. First, I am a novice at options investing so should have been right in the middle of the target market for this book. Fact is, I learned more just searching the Internet while I was waiting for the book to arrive than I learned from the book. It is just too simplistic. All the knowledge contained in this book could have been conveyed in a 20 page pamphlet rather than this 300+ page puff piece with its wide margins and large fonts. A true disappointment.

  4. The author does a good job of conveying the material is a simplistic manner. Knowledge and experiance with buying and selling stock is definitely a prerequisite. I learned many useful tools in determining the right stock to sell calls on while meeting my risk level.

I recommend this book to those who are just getting start with covered call writing.

  5. Very dissapointing. I don't know if this book is a novel or an investment book...It's just like reading a story book... It's a joke....I almost got nothing from this book...Nothing about the covered call detailed in this book.

A good investment book on covered call should consist minimum: How to choose a good stock, how to choose a good strike price, how to pick an expiration date, and most importantly how to manage your position if the market goes against you. You will not get these topics in this book...

5 comments about The Money Tree: Risk Free Options Trading.
  1. Over the last five years, I've examined hundreds of schemes for making money in the stock market. Now, I don't want to say anything bad about all those schemes, but I will say this: The concepts in The Money Tree actually work as advertised! I am retired, and need to make my meager resources last out my lifetime. My lack of success in the market had me ready to put my money in a 2% savings account and hibernate. But then I read this book. It has literally changed my life.

  2. I found this book to be very interesting and powerful in that it not only provides a simple covered call strategy but a stock selection method that complements the overall strategy. The book gives any one the basics to set up a conservative covered call portfolio that should provide a comfortable income. You can order a set of CD's that implements the book's basics and the CD's are very reasonable.
I have set up my IRA account to implement the covered call/ stock program set forth in this book.

  3. If it so good why would SOMEONE bother writing the same review over and over again. I have written many of covered calls and 25% is a bit lofty for a return. Look into more honestly reviewed/written books for details/strategies and see what you can do experientially. Start small and watch what happens to your returns on an annualized basis. Have an exit strategy before you start.

  4. I have not read this book, but I had to comment on its title: I would hate for a novice investor/trader to be taken in by the promise of "risk free" options trading. Synthetically, selling a covered call is identical to selling a naked put, with exactly the same risk/reward profile. The fact that lots of investors do it, and are allowed to do so by their brokers, has a lot more to do with the brokers' risk tolerance than its risk profile for the individual. Yes, you can increase your returns with this strategy, but please, learn how to do it from someone who will tell you the truth about the potential outcomes.

  5. I consider myself a very experienced, professional investor. While I agree w/ the comment by another reviewer that "risk free" is too strong a word - I really liked this book. The book is very readable and communicates a basic yet powerful option writing strategy. While I stress that each investor must understand the risks involved in every trade, I also believe that this book is worth a read.

5 comments about Intelligent Futures Trading.
  1. I have taken one of Chick's classes and automated his trading strategies for day trading the S&P's. After thousands of test on nearly every indicator and system I know, his is still the easiest to understand and very profitable. The system works on all time frames and allows you to predict a few bars ahead.

  2. Simple but effective. Unlike other authors, Chick managed to stay always focus on the subject and does a very good job in explaining with great detail his techniques. I highly recommend it.

  3. This book is especially useful to anyone who has ever traded the markets using the SMR (Security Market Research) charts and timing oscillators. As one who has based his trading on these indicators over my "on again-off again" trading career that has spanned 30 years, Chick's approach and explanations of how to use these momentum based indicators to trade the markets was truly enlightening. I have read the book several times and it has been really useful to subscribe to Chick's daily real time e-mail commentary on 17 commodities which further clarifies the concepts explained in his book....

One warning: When you first read and look at this book, you may not realize just how valuable and powerful the information being presented really is. But hang with it and the investment in time and energy will be well worth it if you review, study, and use these concepts.

  4. I cannot believe the other reviews. Have any of you ever traded before? This has to be one of the worst trading books I've ever read. I've read hundreds and have an extensive library, as well as over 15 years trading experience.

He gives many ideas and suggestions of how to enter and exit trades based on SMR Charts, but nothing concrete because there are so many variations you could "try". Basically trade with the trend and "try" to buy a pullback. Any other book on swing trading would be better and more useful. This is just swing trading using SMR Charts and their indicators, though you can use your own similar indicators. This book is very expensive for something you can get out of any swing trading book, which would give you a lot more value and insight for your money. On money management, same thing, vague - not much more value than telling someone "don't trade too heavy" and to "go with your best guess".

You might notice that there is not one single endorsement from anyone on the back of the book. With someone described as a "top notch sought after money manager" and a "big time trader" doesn't it make you wonder why? Don't waste your money.

  5. This is an outstanding book. Many say that his other book is better, but I don't think its necessarily that it's "better", as it is essentially the same concept, although just different levels of depth.

I consider this as the Laconic version of Chick's methods and teachings.

I am telling you- don't just read this book- APPLY IT. Don't be foolish and gloss over it as many "traders" do and run your mouth negatively as one reviewer here did (he is the one I'd like to ask if he has traded before) without actually reading and understanding what the author is telling you. This is a complete guide, TDBD expounds on his teachings. Get both books for the different perspectives they offer.

Like I said, this is the Laconic version of TDBD, and, like the Spartans from which "Laconic" is derived-this book is efficient and powerful.

5 comments about Wall Street Money Machine, Volume 5: Free Stocks: How to Get the Market to Pay for Your Stocks--FREE!.
  1. This guy was suited by a lot of personal investors.

Matter of fact you can find the law suits against him on the Federal Trade Commission web site: FTC.GOV In the search box type in 'Wade Cook'. There are about 31 hits.

According to the FTC complaint, WCFC's (Wade Cook Financial Corporation) advertising and promotional materials contain express or implied false claims that Wade Cook had earned and consumers would earn extremely high rates of return - returns of 20% or more per month - on their investments using Cook's trading strategies.

Another words, the man can't walk the talk.
    Fraud

  2. This advice can put into early retirement. Wade has been accused of running a get rich scheme and that is partly true. In America, anytime you can come up with a workable strategy that can help you become financially free in less than 4 years, thent hat is quick. Scheme? No, it is just taking advantage on what is available.

And now with stocks like GOOG moving up above the $300 range, it is now possible to get those H-U-G-E premiums that Wade talks about. (This book was written just prior to the Clinton Bear Market in 2000)

    Give it a shot.

  3. This book is complete junk, most of the 4-5 star rating are probably from Wade's cronnies and fraudster. I was even tricked into attending one of his B.S infomerical seminar. Luckily I detect his B.S and left. Stick with the classic from Bill O'neil, Gerald Loeb, and Darvas.

  4. My local BAMM just got a load of this book as well as other Wade Cook books. Being in management with an uncertain future, I am always looking for extra income opportunities. This program by Wade Cook made the most sense.

I like the idea of selling via Super Covered Calls and then creating income or buying more stocks for free. It's working well for me. As Wade beats to death, "always know your exit and do your homework."

My only word of caution is that there are some promotional pieces inside the book and a toll free number on the inside back cover. I called and was heavily pitched to sign up for a seminar and but other products. When I asked if this was Wade Cook's compnay, the person on the other line simply said, "Who the heck cares about Wade Cook." I can only assume if wasn't and that turned out to be true. I found Wade via his new website at wadecook.org. The customer service people there were much friendlier and even enrolled me in a FREE teleseminar. It was like a breathe of fresh air.

    Thanks Wade!

  5. While pervusing this book at my local favorite book retialer, I couldn't believe the claims made herein. As the saying goes, if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. Not with this book though.

Fortunately, a stock trader, an honest one at that also happened to be reading another copy of this book. As I engaged in a conversation with this man, he indicated that he had been using Wade Cook's method's since 1995 and further indicated that he had made some incredible returns. He went onto explain, that there are some unknown ways to make money in the market that most people, average investors like you and me don't know about.

This same man also had a copy of Monday's IBD and showed me which stocks he was going to use for the FREE STOCKS LOCC SYSTEM that Cook teaches in this book.

So while I cannot offer you any incredible stories at this time, since I have not used the techniques as of yet, I will be in the future. Nonetheless, I was very impressed witht he systems contained in this book. So much so that I decided to buy two other Wade Cook books. I'll let you know how I made out.
