1. The Vest Pocket CPA is a superbly written and easy to use quick reference tool. It addresses the common issues which a CPA or CFO might encounter in the ordinary course of a working day. It contains timely material and is a valuable addition to any accounting/auditing library. I liked it when I first obtained it, and find myself using it more than I thought I would.



2. The Vest Pocket CPA is a concise and comprehensive guide that provides a quick reference for executives and accountants. The reference is updated for the recent changes instituted by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Its question and answer format provides an indispensable aid and its examples add clarity to complex accounting issues. I found this book to be enjoyable. It is an easy reading book.



3. If you have an accounting background and need a quick reference guide to refresh your memories, this is a great book. The authors also provide practical tips in boxes to remind you what to watch out for in particular circumstances. In a nutshell, it basically cramps a few years worth of accounting courses into one very compact book.
   
   For those of you who do not have an accounting background, this book will not be for you since it does not go into any great length to explain any accounting concepts. It basically assume you already know your stuff and simply needs a refresher.

5. This is really a great book for CPA exam. All the important accounting materials are covered in the book, and the wording is easy to understand. The part I like the most is that it has examples for each topic. I think it is a must have book for people who want to take the CPA exam. The book is not heavy, so you can carry it anywhere you want to go.

1. I bought the 2007 version and was completly unsatisfied. The book reprinted the learning objective statements that are already in the CFA curriculm and called it an outline. There were a few poorly written questions for each section. The questions were much to simple to actually help prepare for the CFA Exam. When I went to the website to download the "free questions" they were not available. Horrible product. Do not waste your money.

1. I still can not get it... and I don't need it anymore, but I still have to pay money..... What's goin on my book????????



2. I am currently taking an Accounting class with this book and I think it is great. It is easy to understand. It is very straight and to the point. It gives you plenty of real world examples from real companies and their financial reports (which makes it a lot more interesting than other Accounting books...) Also Amazon.com is great and I have always had great experiences with Amazon.com.



3. My main problem with this book is that the text looks like a magazine, so often it's difficult to discern what is important versus what is trivial. In addition, in the first chapter the authors present all of the financial statements, which overwhelms some students. Finally, some topics are used before they are intoduced in detail.
   
   Nonetheless, the book is excellent in many ways. If you carefully read the text of each chapter, you will get a good background in basic accounting. There are many problems at the end of the chapter, and the online materials are splendid. Use them to you advantage, read the book, and attend your class, and with hard work success is probable.



4. This book was over $150 in my school bookstore. I think I got a great desl, and it came in perfect shape with many extras!!!



5. This book arrived in the exact condition described online. It was very reasonably priced, and shipped reasonably quickly. I would buy from this seller again.

1. This is a good book. The transparencies provided in the bk help to clarify step by step proceedures and the online supplements work nicely with the book



2. Much cheaper than what you can see in the bookstore although shipping may take you a while longer than that. Quality of the book is good.



3. Excellent accounting book for a first course. Well written with good examples and good homework questions.

1. I thought this was going to provide step by step solutions. Being in a master program, this was on the list to purchase. Frankly, it's been a waste of money since it takes additional time to understand this book in addition to my other finance book.
   
   This would probably be a good book if it was being taught to you, but just to pick up and understand?? Unless you are heavy into financial management, Good Luck!

1. I bought this book to help me studying for my part 3 CMA exam.

   The reason I removed the fifth star from my rating is:
   First : It does not have enough questions, or questions are irrelevant to the ones you get in a CMA exam. Besides, there are no answers given to help you evaluate your self.

   Second: Though it has a good website for student support ... some main chapters are still under construction!!

   My Conclusion is that If you are a manager, you will find this book very helpful more than any other book but if you are a student you better use another text book like Horngren .




2. To All Readers of the Posted Comment regarding Cost Management: A Strategic Emphasis--the posted comment refers to the 2nd Edition of this text. The most recent edition, of which I am now a coauthor, is the 4th edition, which carries a 2008 copyright date. The latest edition of the text is materially different from the previous editions. Please keep these points in mind as you consider the latest edition of the text. Thank you.

3. Really liked the book overall, although I think it is weighted too heavily toward manufacturing and could beef up on services.
   
   My main criticism is that i bought the book based on the assumption that the site would have excel spreadsheets to work the problems, etc, but this information is not available. (If you search inside the book, you will see the claim that spreadsheets are available on the site. They are only available to instructors)
