4 comments about Financial Management 101: Get a Grip on Your Business Numbers.
- An excellent book from the new Numbers 101 series (see Bookkeepers' Boot Camp). The author shows you how to get the most profit from a small business as you possibly can by using simple financial management techniques -- something like what a person who has a degree in finance or business would know and use. But it's all spelled out in easy steps. It's sort of like hiring an MBA consultant for your small business, but for a lot less money!
- Financial Management 101: Get A Grip On Your Business Numbers by business columnist Angie Mohr (who is also a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant) is an thoroughly "reader friendly" guidebook designed specifically for small business owners and managers, and which methodically teaches the reader all of the basics about balance sheets, income statements, monthly budget reports, ratio analysis, dealing with inventory problems, dealing with debt, and more. Financial Management 101 is an absolute "must-read" for any business owner new to the complexities of finance and needing to competently analyze financial data, measure business success, and have an accurate and on-going comprehension of their fiscal bottom line.
- This is a fantastic book - so much cheaper than spending the money for an accountant to explain all to you. The book is easy to read and understand even for a dummy like me just setting up a business. Just like her other book ("Bookkeeper's Boot Camp"), the case studies keep the information from being too dry and helps explain in layman's terms what each chapter is teaching. More books in this series please !!!
- The Financial Management 101 book has been a good book of reference. When I need to be sure of what should be debited or credited, I used this book for reference. It also helps me to keep good business sense in perspective and in its rightful place. I also have the bookkeeping resource book as well.

4 comments about Collect Your Money: A Guide to collecting Ourstanding Accounts Receivable for your business.
- Collect Your Money, is an excellent reference and how to guide for anyone who is owed money, and is having difficultly collecting. For the relatively small investment, It has shown the a/r person in my office the quickest and easiest way to collect from our customers,a t a fraction of what we had spent in the past. The step by step processes and easy to understand format make this the the most effective tool we have ever used in 13 years. The form letters are right on the money (no pun intended). Collect Your Money, covers every aspect of the credit part of your business or life, from who to issue credit to, how to issue it, collecting in a timely manner, and if the situation arises ( and it will) how to collect from people who have no intention to pay. The book even goes as far as reposession as a last resort and how you can achieve this with out great expense. This is a must read for anyone in business or thinking about starting one. It has saved my business thousands of dollars in a short time, and the potential is endless.
- I am a Doctor with a very large practice in Colorado. My accounts receivable is just alarming. Before I purchased Collect Your Money by Cody Flecker, I was owed in excess of 750,000 dollars. In 4 months using this book, its letters and simple to understand advice, my staff collected over 350,000 dollars without the advice of an attorney or collection agency. In fact, I fired the agency. Why pay them 25-50% of the outstandings when I can pay my own people to do the same. I recommend this book to every medical practioner I come into contact with. Every small to medium size business should have this book as well. I have recommended it to all of my business patients. If people or businesses owe you money you should buy this book. I am glad that I did.
- The book focuses on individual collection through persuasion. Call it whatever you want, its still just scare tactics. The author has been in collections for several decades and it shows. The author is definitely out of touch with today's society and acceptable business practices. He actively encourages letter writing and litigation, known to be the two worst approaches to collecting debt. Scare tactics, Scare tactics, Scare tactics. The example letters were so poorly written that I would be embarrassed to use them. The lack of a qualified proofreader is readily apparent. The book was so awful I immediately sent it back....
- I am a practicing Psychiatrist with a large practice in Boston. My wife is also a Physician in an unrelated field. Our accounts receivables have been in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and we have tried everything possible to bring back some of those dollars.
I was " turned " on to Collect Your Money by Cody Flecker after one of my colleagues told me about this collections professional out on the West Coast and the book that he wrote to help professionals like my wife and myself. "Collect Your Money" gets to the heart of the matter. Since using the techniques as outlined in the book our recovery rates have gone up dramatically, while not disturbing the good will of our clients. The letters as outlined by Cody Flecker were to the point, and sincere. They did bring in the required results that we were looking for. Other good points about Collect Your Money were the telephone conversations, not so much what you say, but what your reply would be once the patient/debtor makes his statement to you and expects an answer. My wife and I are foreigners and our command of the English language is not always up to par. Collect Your Money did the trick for us. We recommend this book to every small business trying to bring back some of those lost dollars.
