2 comments about 1001 Financial Words You Need to Know.
- I was a fan of David Bach and his financial perspective, but after anxiously awaiting this book's arrival I was sorely disappointed. It's a dictionary plain and simple with a couple of excerpts from his best-selling books. This does not help explain these financial terms, although I know this isn't true, most people should know 99% of the terms. The other 1% are for people involved in corporate takeovers (and I doubt they are the target audience.) This is a rip off and condescending. I know ATM stands for Automatic Teller Machine and I don't need to know the words orgin. I expected to gain a more well-rounded knowledge of how to apply these terms in my own life, more situational stories. It is simply a dictionary with no discernable use.
- David Bach's writing style is clear, direct and informative. I thought this book delivered exactly what the title represented plus a little more. I refer to it frequently while reading other investment books. I also found his lists of money mistakes people make and the steps for retirement planning helpful. If you are new to investing and looking for a reference book, this is the best I've found.

- I bought this for my company to hand out to Spanish speakers to try and improve their participation in our 401k. Hopefully it will be useful for them - it has been for me and my wife.
- Tremendo libro para organizar tu salud finaciera. El te explica paso por paso como organizarte economicamente. Se lo recomiendo a todo el mundo. !Yo he regalado a mis amistades 3 libros!

2 comments about The Automatic Millionaire Homeowner: A Lifetime Plan to Finish Rich in Real Estate.
- david bach should be part of every high school curriculum....from his automatic millionaire on to all his other books.... he is easy to understand...and includes wonderful real life examples...everyone should read his stuff and make the good life for themselves...and others by giving back...this is so basic...you will wonder why you have not realized your dream sooner...but as he will tell you, it is not too late. read it .
- this is the book for you. It offers basic knowledge for a young person who is looking to buy their first home. This book, however, is not for someone who is looking to start over, reestablish themselves, has or had credit issues. It offers no suggestions to help people who are trying to get out of debt or who have made mistakes in real estate.
I do agree that this should be required reading for graduating high school seniors. Because if you're not diligent from the very beginning, David can't help you!

5 comments about The Automatic Millionaire Homeowner: A Powerful Plan to Finish Rich in Real Estate.
- This book is a 5 star book if you are looking for a book to inspire you to be a first time home owner. 80% of this book explains the entire process of how to become a homeowner, it would have been very helpful to me before I bought my first home 16 years ago. He explains mortgages and how they work, what kind of real estate agent to use and what to look for in making your choices. 20% of this book explains why it is important financially to own your own home. For example: Homes rise in value on average 6% a year. So if your home is valued at $100,000 it will grow in value by $6,000 a year. This can add up quickly in equity and will turn out to be one of the greatest investments you have ever made. David Bach believes that home ownership is essential to becoming an automatic millionaire. This book briefly discusses how wealthy you can become by keeping your homes as rental properties as you trade up to larger homes. This book is not about "flipping" properties it is about owning them for the long term. I would highly recommend a beginner in real estate or personal finance to read this book it will be very useful, however this is not for current home owners or real estate investors. I will be giving this book as a gift to my children when they turn 18. Owning a home is essential to financial success, even though I am uncomfortable with Mr. Bach's advice to leverage debt for multiple houses. My first starter home made me $40,000 in 10 years when I sold it.
- David Bach couldn't be more right on with the "Automatic" part of his book. I am a real estate agent and for years when someone bought a house from me I would give them a fruit basket or gift card. Now I send them something of great value. I send them this book and only this book. They look a little strange at me at first but after they've read it they become excited and can't wait to begin their journey to be millionaires as homeowners and I got to be a part of it. The return to them will be great. The return to me will be great too.
- I bought the book not knowing what to expect , however it had so many good tips that are relevant to buying a home for the first time. It also extends great advice about real estate as an investment. I recommend it to anyone looking for good sound, structured advice about investing in a home.
- This product is well worth it's money. It has many pointers, directions, and links to better your knowledge. Remember, knowledge is power.
- The title of this book may be a bit over-reaching but this is a good primer for those who are looking to leave renting behind and embark on home ownership. Author Bach offers a thorough primer into the wisdom of getting into the real estate market and buying a home. This is NOT a get-rich-quick scheme, but rather an approach for a patient person.
One caveat is that many of Bach's principles work better in a rising real estate market. In some markets, this advice could render you An Automatic Bankruptcy Case.
Since the book's publication, the residential real estate market has cooled or tanked in many areas. This may make it tougher in the short run to recoup on some of Bach's advice. In fairness, he recognizes in the book the cyclical nature of real estate markets and recommends a long term discipline in holding real estate in up markets and down cycles.

5 comments about Go Green, Live Rich: 50 Simple Ways to Save the Earth and Get Rich Trying.
- In typical David Bach fashion, he has simply restated the obvious, added a snappy title and failed to come up with even one new or original idea of his own. Need an example? How about Tip #3: Increase Your Fuel Economy by downsizing from your SUV or big truck which averages 18 mpg, to a Honda Civic which averages 36 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city. Brilliant and terribly, terribly obvious. I recommend saving your green and your time.
- In an entertaining way, David Bach gets listeners thinking green and making choices that are good for their wallets and the planet. While everyone knows about hybrid cars, most people don't realize that your home contributes more greenhouse gases, and Bach will show you tons of ways to make your home more energy efficient and less wasteful. You will be horrified by his statistics on the amount of waste generated by something as small as buying a cup of coffee to-go. His statistics are quite interesting even for those who already feel they make green choices. Who knew that plasma TVs use twice as much electricity? I was especially pleased to see that Bach had a lengthy section on biodiesel. With so many green ideas offered, any listener will find something in this book that they can incorporate into their lives.
This is a very successful non-fiction book in audio format. Each chapter is broken down into separate tracks titled 1a, 1b, 1c so the information is easily referenced. Bach details the environmental problem, then discusses how consumers can solve the problem, and follows up with "go green action steps". Listeners will want to go back and reference the action steps and this is easily done since they are on separate tracks. Go Green, Live Rich is a non fiction book that is as easily used in audio format as in the print edition. This is an excellent production and worthwhile material.
- Easy and quick to read. Simple to follow. Read a page or two a day and implement these ideas. I have shared this book with others and they have appreciated it as well. This book has many wonderful ideas on how to help our amazing planet and this is something we all need to do NOW. Let's Save Our Earth!
- Many tips fall under the category of obvious, such as maintaining your home and automobile to save money and resources. This wouldn't be too bad on its own, but many of the extreme green tips are questionable in practicality or point. For example, Bach suggests taking your home off the grid by going completely solar without any mention of what to do at night when the sun doesn't shine. The silliest suggestion is using recycled toilet paper instead of the soft stuff made from "virgin fiber" that comes from "old growth trees, and entire forests of them are clear-cut in order to produce it". This forty year old argument is just plain wrong considering that the forest community plants over 1.5 billion trees a year in the US and forests are growing at rate faster than they are harvested according to [...]. Overall the book is disappointing compared to Bach's previous works. I was really hoping for some innovative, practical, and well researched ideas. It seemed like if an organization said something was green then it made it in the book regardless of what more thorough research might have said.
- This book lists 50 ways you can make your life greener. Readers who are already convinced of the need to act ecologically will be its best audience. The ideas are useful, if not deeply innovative. Most of them will indeed help the environment and save you money. And that's a good thing. However, author David Bach (writing with Hillary Rosner) uses many semi-statistical claims without giving enough data or context to lend meaning to his numbers, though they may still encourage true environmental action believers. Some of the book's statistical conclusions are based on fairly unrealistic extrapolations of averages. For example, saying that the average family works two to four months out of the year to drive, insure, fuel and maintain its cars does not seem to capture the fiscal realities and practical options truly available to such families. Bach's real message, of course, is to drive thoughtfully, save money and go easy on the planet, so getAbstract suggests focusing on the good to be done, and being a little forgiving about the math.

5 comments about Start Late, Finish Rich: A No-Fail Plan for Achieving Financial Freedom at Any Age (Finish Rich Book Series).
- This book has help me in many a different way. I am glad to have found this book in my late twenties. All I want to say is thank you for a wonderful book.
- David Bach is one of the more successful personal finance gurus who pumps out shelves of books, sells seats at seminars, and so on. He is a brand as much as he is an author. This book focuses on the financial requirements of those who realize they need to get ready for retirement, but they let the clock get too far ahead of them. They are like a batter who falls behind the pitcher, 0-2 and still want to get on base. This book provides a practical and good natured guide and how you can get to retirement somehow, someway, if you are willing to do what is necessary.
Bach presents his material in 23 chapters divided into five parts. He is very clear that Living Rich is more about quality of life than just having more money that you have to be miserable to acquire and never get to use in ways that have any personal meaning for you.
Part One focuses on why you need to start now and why freedom is more important than mere money. Part Two talks about how you can spend less. You know you have to, so why not give you your daily $5 latte and brew your own cup of Joe? He also provides a good system for paying off your credit cards and how to negotiate with your bank and credit card company to lower interest rates and penalties. He also provides sound warnings about those credit counseling companies. Basically, stay away from them. He does provide info on good financial counseling resources and how you can check on them.
Now that you have stopped the bleeding you can go on to Part Three and learn ways to Save More. Bach provides good methods to help you pay yourself first by automatically saving and explains why boring investments are much better than exciting ones when it comes to your financial future. Still, you ability to save is limited by your income, so Part Four helps you focus on a number of ways to make more at your job, at part time opportunities or side businesses that allow you to keep your job, but provide valuable supplementary income.
Part Five is about your quality of life and why your money is really about serving this purpose. Bach also explains why giving and blessing the lives of others is a great way to enhance the quality of your own life.

- Hello everyone, first off i have read David's "Automatic Millionaire" and if you want a good book to get you hyped about investing I would read that one first. I just started reading this one and it has some of the same principles except it's guided to accelerating the investing process incase you started investing later on in your life. My personal recommendation is if your kind of interested in investing or you're looking to know the big picture of the different types of investing then David Bach's books are a solid choice for easy reading and comprehension.
- The shelves are full of books on personal finance and retirement. Many cover a familiar list of sound principles: Save, get out of debt, pay down your mortgage, add to your retirement investments and live fully. However, getAbstract finds that David Bach's books are effective in their own distinctive way because of his emphasis on quality of life and simplicity (like using automatic deductions to meet your fiscal goals). Bach's bestsellers have developed a wide following. If he is your preferred financial guru, you will enjoy this guide to a better fiscal future.
- This book is easy to read and covers a lot of different topics with ideas that can be put to practical use. I am on my second read and this book has motivated me to up my percentage going in to my 401k. So although there's not too much that I wasn't already aware of after reading this book, I feel that reinforcing principles is a good thing and if a book can motivate me enough to take positive action with my financial situation, then it's a book that is well worth reading!!!

5 comments about Smart Couples Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Creating a Rich Future for You and Your Partner.
- I read "Smart Couples Finish Rich" after reading a few Dave Ramsey and Robert Kiyosaki books and I have to say that I much prefer Bach's no-nonsense and informational style of writing. Although all authors offer good advice and interesting case studies, David's plan is more solid and easier to follow. Other books are more story-telling than facts but this one is not, which is refreshing. The book is full of information and resources that make reaching your goal seem much more realistic. I loved it and am already implementing some of the steps. I feel more optimistic about my family's financial future and wish I had started saving sooner! This book is a "must read" for all couples, especially newlyweds just starting their financial life together. I also bought the single person's equivalent -- "The Automatic Millionaire" -- and gave it to my 30 year-old brother as a gift. I want him to start his retirement account sooner than later.
- I am a financial advisor and I keep a copy of this in my office to lend to clients. It has excellent advice, is easy and fun to read, and helps get couples on the same page in setting goals, saving, budgeting, etc.
- This book is one of the greatest books I have gotten my hands on. I am a newlywed and in my young adult-hood, I have decided that it is time to get my finances on track. I have taken my husband by the hand and we have now made it a ritual that every Wednesday we make time to sit down and plan our finances and our future together. We are only on the second chapter because we complete all of the exercises in the book. The author David Bach has a writing style that is simple, fun, imaginative and to the point. Every time I pick up the book I feel like I have my own personal financial advisor advising my husband and me. Getting your finances in order is a step by step process that requires the mind, patience, discipline and the willing to achieve. Check out what I have written in a year from now and I'll tell you how I am managing my millions!!!
- Maxed-out credit cards. Depleted savings. Underfunded retirement accounts. Millions of couples struggle with common financial issues, but instead of looking for solutions, they perpetuate harmful behaviors by bickering, blaming and, in many cases, divorcing. David Bach, author of the best-selling Smart Women Finish Rich, says you'll never solve your money problems if you view your partner as the enemy. It's not all your fault, though. Typically, people do not discuss money openly, so individuals may know very little about their spouse's financial priorities, philosophy and history. Establishing and maintaining an open line of communication is pivotal to sensible financial planning as a couple. You don't have to agree on everything. You don't even have to change. You just have to work together. Bach shows couples how to get on the same page. Using clear (in fact, somewhat simplified) formulas and charts, he tells them how to handle saving, spending, investing and retiring. getAbstract thinks that Bach's conservative approach makes sense. So does his emphasis on making your relationship - not money - your number one priority. Whether or not you finish rich, at least you'll be happy.
- It would have been better had I not been single at the time of reading this!

5 comments about The Automatic Millionaire : A Powerful One-Step Plan to Live and Finish Rich.
- Okay, I LOVE financial books. Love them. I like David Bach, he's okay, but this book is kinda hard to believe.
First, when he tells the "story" of the couple from when David Bach was back in his 20's, so that would be back in late 70's or early 80's(?) - he talks about how the people told him about his "coined phrase" the Latte Factor (insert trademark symbol here).
Uh, was a Latte even a common phrase drink back them? Not that I recall, so that little "PR" move for his "catch phrase" AUTOMATICALLY put me on guard as to what was real vs. not real.
His info is a bit far-fetched if you want to truly read into it, but on the whole the book gives great ideas on how to set aside money for your future. Without picking it apart, it's not bad advice.
Easy to read, but the stories are totally unbelievable to me. I kept thinking that he totally made them up, or how embellished they were.
Get it from your local library. Also recommend Jean Chatzky books.
- Easy to read and easy to apply principles for managing your money. This book has become my standard gift for high school grads because as helpful as this book has been to me at 40 years old, it will be that much more beneficial to an 18 year old. Start reading and start saving!
- Never thought that personal finance could be this simple and easy. Applying what is written in this book, has changed my life and how I value my earnings and money. Well done!
- This is all about automating your way to financial freedom guys. If you are looking where to start and not overwhelm yourself, this is the book for you! Wonderful read! If you're married definitely get the "Smart Couples Finish Rich". Best book for married couples that want control over their finances ever. These books are about real life and not some "guru" shoving mostly useless junk down your throat. Enjoy!
- Did you know that you don't need a big salary to become a millionaire, and that a carefully organized budget and intense willpower aren't even necessary? All it takes, says David Bach, is a simple one-step plan. Follow it to become an "automatic millionaire." Bach's save-your-pennies book is straightforward and sensible - though it predates the recent economic downturn. It comes complete with helpful tables and charts. He details how someone with an average income can eventually amass wealth through automatic savings. getAbstract finds it hard to argue with his basic, common-sense principles: Save steadily, avoid credit card debt, and so on. But Bach gives little weight to various real-life scenarios that can throw a money wrench into the most sensible savings plans. For example, what happens if you lose your job, get seriously ill or find that your home is depreciating? (In fact, he says U.S. houses double in value over five years. Alas, that's not the case in many places at the moment.) What about folks with erratic incomes who can't make automatic savings payments - the locus classicus of Bach's plan? What if 15% of your paycheck just doesn't add up to enough accrual? That's not to mention that Bach's instruction to invest at a 10% return, which is not an easy score to achieve these days. Do your own math. Despite his occasionally utopian tone, Bach does provide solid information on how to build wealth. You can only benefit from his concrete, logical suggestions on how to get rich, slowly.

5 comments about Smart Women Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams (Revised Edition).
- Love all his books - bought this, gave it someone and had to buy it again. It all depends what level you are on. Not too much non-common sense, but good for women to read.
- You don't have to be a rocket scientist to become wealthy and this book details how easy it can be. If you're looking for glitz and glamour and "get rich quick" this isn't it. There's no such thing as an overnight success. Read David's book and get going on the road to wealth.
- Smart Women Finish Rich is a bit different from other financial books I've read. I have to admit I was surprised with how well David Bach addressed both the emotional and intellectual relationship women have with money. His grandmother taught him well.
I am going to say that Smart Women Finish Rich is more for a financial beginner than a woman with financial savvy. It's a well thought out system of gaining and keeping control of your financial self-sufficiency. Bach has filled this book with definitions, resources, quizzes, systems, exercises and tables. I was impressed and give it a must read if you're serious about becoming more financially organized.
David Bach addresses both the heart and the head in Smart Women Finish Rich. He used the lessons he learned from his grandmother, and his mother, as inspiration. After growing up with two such powerful role models, he was surprised by the number of financially uniformed women. Many of the women who came to him for financial advice, had no clue about building financial security.
Smart Women Finish Rich is easy to understand. I read it and "got it." This is a "how to" book that involves a commitment on your part to read, work and put the assignments and lessons into daily practice. Bach has carefully given us valuable financial keys, now it's up to us to follow through.
What you'll get out of this book is going to depend on what you're willing to put into it. It's a book that has the potential to give you a great foundation for financial self-sufficiency.
Here are some of the areas I found particularly useful:
1.The first exercise, "Financial Knowledge Quiz" is a great practical place to start. I found it to be thoughtful and quite an eye-opener. I learned about how well (and sometimes not so well) I understood the role money played in my life.
2. David Bach is adamant about pinpointing the reason money is important to you. To find this out, you'll need to examine your money values and ask yourself if your financial behavior matches those values. He provides a simple but thoughtful exercise called the "Values Ladder."
3. Smart Women Finish Rich is a great blend of exercises, systems, quizzes and practical "real world" information. For example, the "Finish Rich File Folder System" is a simple, easy-to-follow and yet an organizational time saver.
I definitely give Smart Women Finish Rich five stars! If you're ready and serious about getting your financial house and monetary priorities in order, this is the book for you!
- I bought this book because I heard so many positive things about it. I am in my 50's, five years ago I went from having the wonderful life that all women dream of. I had the beautiful home in the suburbs, 2 beautiful children, friends, you name it I had it. Then I lost it all in the blink of an eye. I had relied on my husband to handle all the finances I couldn't tell you the balance in the check book. All I knew was he made the money and I spent it. Thank the Lord I was a RN, but I hadn't worked in quite a few years. I am not going to go into detail what happened but when I said I had nothing but the clothes on my back I mean just that. I have been working two jobs for the past five years making good money but I have NOTHING to show for it. By reading Suze book I was able to identify myself, it is so easy to understand that someone like myself with NO understanding of finance can take her suggestions and work them into my present life. It is going to take discipline on my part and learning to say NO to my children is going to be the hardest. But, I need to take care of myself. This book was just what I needed to read. I highlighted areas, I keep going back and re-reading certain sections. I keep it next to my bed. Buying this book was one of the best things I have done for myself.
- I think all women should read this book and share it with others (family and children). Not only does Mr. Bach discuss how saving a little here and there can help with retirement, but he also gives women inspiration to live out (and especially to finance) their dreams. A wonderful book.
