2 comments about Bookkeeping Basics: What Every Nonprofit Bookkeeper Needs to Know.
- The book is very good for an understanding of bookkeeping for non-profits with many reminders, charts and instructions. It continually emphasized what was discussed in earlier chapters. And, it gave a review of the bookkeeping basics. There is a lot of information for medium to large non-profits. The book discusses accrual and cash basis. This book would be a good tool for a medium or large organization. The book gave me confidence to do the job as treasurer of a small non-profit as I was reminded of the things I learned in accounting classes that I had many years ago.
- Clear, practical and well-organized resource for new bookkeepers and accounting students without bookkeeping experience who want to better understand the accounting cycle. Very user-friendly.

2 comments about Schaum's Outline of Bookkeeping and Accounting (Schaum's Outlines).
- Just what I was looking for. College accounting was long ago and unused for many years. This book is a great one for dusting off the brain cells. It is well written, easy to understand, and even has T account diagrams. It's like college in the comfort of my own home. The exercises are to the point and provide ample worksheet space. Much better and certainly more affordable than many textbooks.
- This well-written text closely tracks the content of "Survey of Accounting" and "College Accounting" textbooks and courses offered at many community and 4-year colleges. ("Principles of Accounting" courses are similar, but they contain more theory than the other two. This book is still good, but might need some supplements.) The exercises and problems are excellent, and the solutions appear right after them so it's easy to check your work. I would have given 5 stars if there were a few more memory aids and helpful hints to make learning the material even easier. But overall, very good and easy to follow.

5 comments about The Vacation Rental Organizer.
- This book was very thorough and easy to read. If you're looking for a dream vacation also check out, "World Ventures, Wayne Nugent".
- I bought this book along with "How to rent Vacation properties by Owner".....THAT book is great, but for me, I was hoping for a better organizer. My main disappointment is simply not enough pages for expenses, but like over 50 pages, (thats over 200 renters) for your renters. Perhaps that is OK for those who rent nightly or weekly, but for me, who rent my vacation home for one month minimum, and usually for 3 month at a time, this was off balance.
I have many expenses that I need to keep track of, utilities, mowing, cleaning,etc,etc......for me, I need WAY more then the 6 pages they give for expenses.....I would think any owner would. Pockets and tabs would have been nice, but the main thing is it needs WAY more pages for expenses.....6 pages is not enough.
- This manual forced me to collect and organize my resources. At the same time it identified what was important to collect. Very helpful.
- This workbook is awesome. We are buying a vacation rental but I will be buying another copy to use in my main home as well. It has places to write in your appliances and the warrenty info etc...so everything is centraly located and easy to find. I LOVE IT!
- This is a book of 'forms'and ledger-style pages which are constricting and less useful than ledgers available at Office Supply stores . Not recommended.

5 comments about Keeping the Books: Basic Recordkeeping and Accounting for the Successful Small Business (Keeping the Books).
- This is an excellent book for those learning to keep books, or needing to brush up on their bookeeping skills. It is very detailed, and simplified. I found it easy to follow and understand.
- This is an excellent book that teaches you to chart: where you would like to go on your business journey; where you are; and what you need to do to adjust your journey towards your profit goals.
Long before reading this book, I had asked an Accountant the difference between fixed and variable assets - he really didn't answer my question. In fact, he seemed to be annoyed that I would ask such a question.
But this book gives the answer in a very succinct description, with supporting information.
Above all, this book walks the small business owner through:
1. Record Keeping;
2. Business Accounting;
3. General Ledgers;
4. Financial Statements; and,
5. Taxes.
And this is definitely a resource to keep referring to, until you have mastered the process of growing profit.
- This is one of my two favorite accounting books for small business owners. The other is "Small Business Accounting Simplified" by Daniel Sitarz. These books present a lot of the same information, but they have slightly different perspectives on small business accounting and I think both viewpoints are useful and complimentary. Establishing your accounting system is serious business, so I would consider purchasing both. It's a small investment considering how important and time consuming this area could be for small business.
With that said, this book will help you to understand the basics of accounting and the advantages and disadvantages of various methods of keeping your books. It is very streamlined, practical and will help you to get your books together quickly using the easiest system that is appropriate for your business.
This is a very non-intimidating book and first time business owners will really like it. The other book I recommended above by Sitarz is more involved and may be something you want to get down the road. If you are a very small business, this book may have all you need and you may appreciate that it lacks some detail that might be unnecessary.
Both books that I mention are adequate to get a small business up and running. However, if you are not a numbers person by nature or have an aversion to accounting, this might be the best place to start. As part of my livelihood I do small business consulting and this title and the one I mentioned in the first paragraph are the two books I most often recommend for a new small business.
- This book has been a great guide tool.
Helps you understand what you should have for your business even if you have no accounting experience. Very step by step and leads you in the right direction to follow up and increase knowledge.
- This book is good for the basics in bookkeeping. The blank sample forms were useful for me.

- I am extremely sorry I purchased this 'book.' Im my opinion, it is an excreasance in the book market. It has little or no correspondence with the parent book; it has highly misleading inaccuracies. My son-in-law, who is an accountant with 30 years experience could not explain some of the examples presented. In short -- save your bux --

5 comments about Dictionary of Accounting Terms.
- This little book puts almost everything at your fingertips: formulas, examples, abbreviations, acronyms, not just definitions. A must have for any accountant or anyone studying the subject. I showed this to my old accounting professor and he wished this was his.
- This dictionary has it all + simplified examples. Bottom line, if you think it you'll find it.
- This book arrived in perfect condition and within a few days. I am very pleased with my purchase.
- I needed something at work to look up certain words as I come across them. of course this book was perfect. I enjoy having it by my side, just to make sure I know what I'm dealing with and have an understanding of what I am doing. I def. recommend for all you accountants/auditors out there.
- This book is very intelligently written and organized. The definitions are skillfully worded to be precise, succinct and immediately comprehensible. It's actually a joy to meander through the book following the cross references to build up an expanding view of a topic. (Note: I'm fairly new to accounting). Very highly recommended, especially for the price.

5 comments about Bookkeeping Made Simple.
- This book was puchased to teach a teenager the basic principles of bookkeeping prior to learning a computerized bookkeeping system. I have been "keeping the books" for businesses for 30+ years and feel it is important to know what the computer is doing behind the scenes. This book will help you to understand that. Both the teenager and I are very pleased with the logical and simple to understand explanations of bookkeeping. We especially like the worksheets which accompany the lessons. These give the student a feeling of accomplishment and help to reinforce the lessons.
- This is an easy to use instructional manual with practical assignments to help you retain the information given. Highly recommended.
- This books title reveals exactly what it says- Bookkeeping Made Simple. I understand accounting principles more easily now than I did during my unedgraduate degree, which I majored in International Business Administration-Accounting. I sit with my 4 year old daughter and she can comprehend the terms and principles throughout the book. I think I just created another generation of CPA's because of this book. He has great examples and nothing is confusing. If you purchase this book, read it cover to cover and then attend an accounting meeting you will know exactly what they are discussing. You will also know if your bookkeeper actually knows bookkeeping or has been leading you on. This book has definitely assisted me with becoming a more proficent bookkeeper!
- This book has good subject matter but the answers at the end of the chapter have had some typos.
- What a great book! It starts with the basics and builds from there. The exercises at the end of each chapter hammer home the information you just read. Even though I'm going to use a CPA for my business, this book will help me be a better business owner.

5 comments about Bookkeeping for Nonprofits: A Step-by-Step Guide to Nonprofit Accounting.
- This book will help bookkeepers new to non-profit accounting. The book goes into detail, showing actual entries, and the reasoning behind them. It also points out dos and don'ts, basic accrual accounting, and what reporting an accountant will need for the 990 form. The book is a primer for the non-profit bookkeeper and/or organization treasurer.
- Good book, great illustrations. Very clear. However, if you've been doing corporate accounting for a number of years, this is pretty basic. Better for someone with limited experience. I was hoping for something a little more advanced.
- Useful, relatively easy tor read reference on not-for-profit (NFP) accounting, generally aimed at non-finance/accounting person. Not so useful for an organization using cash accounting methods (versus accrual), common in smaller NFPs. Some good ideas for low-end (i.e., <$50K income/year) NFP BOD members.
- Excellent presentation on the essentials of accounting for nonprofit organizations. Many simple examples of typical and unusual transactions.
- This is a wonderful guide for those taking up the task of doing the books for a nonprofit organization. It is chock full of information, yet it is in an easy to read format that the beginner or lay person will understand.
Bookkeeping for Nonprofits is extremely user-friendly, giving you all the information you need to set up an accounting system for a nonprofit in a very simple manner.
This is an excellent resource.

5 comments about Bookkeeping For Dummies (For Dummies (Business & Personal Finance)).
- I ordered this book to go along with my accounting book that I had ordered. This book is very helpful and easy to understand. I received this book within 7 days and in very good condition.
- I'm a smart girl but I STILL cannot make heads or tails out of bookkeeping. Although I now understand credits and debits, the journal entering and what not just didn't make sense. The book seemed to be too general for me. I really needed more detailed, beginner-friendly information and guidance. Maybe if you have a general idea of how bookkeeping works, this book will work for you. I, on the other hand, bought this book having absolutely no knowledge of bookkeeping, and unfortunately, I still don't.
- This is a very good book to start understanding the subject of accounting and bookkeeping.
- This book doesn't help you if you have the Mac Version of Quickbooks. I probably should have checked that out before buying it but I assumed that the functions would be the same. Silly me, they are not! Just something to consider...
- Very easy to understand compared to other books I've read on this subject, very happy with it.

5 comments about The Answer: Grow Any Business, Achieve Financial Freedom, and Live an Extraordinary Life.
- I read this book right after "The Secret" because I heard that it was the book I need to take actions and more focused on the business/money aspect of life. The book is easy to read and very informative. The scientific part is long, but fascinating. Ultimately this was a great book to jump start my thinking and learn about basic, but crutial, business systems/methods.
- It would take significant editing to get this book up to mediocre. Poorly organized, speciously reasoned and over-promised.
Like another reviewer, I read a lot of self-help books and have written one (Living an Extraordinary Life--available here on Amazon)that has been well received by people who have actually read it.
Am I the only "growth groupie" who is increasingly suspicious of any book or seminar promoted by the Jack Canfield/Jay Abraham/Bob Proctor crowd?
And didn't some very talented personal development gurus release a wonderful DVD last year titled ..... The Answer? http://www.gettheanswer.org/moviepreview.html
Perhaps obviously, I've got integrity issues with this book in addition to it being a lousy read.
- Phenomenal!!!
"The Answer, Grow Any Business, Achieve Financial Freedom, & Live an Extraordinary Life' by John Assaraf & Murray Smith is an impressive book about money, success, & happiness, written by a featured teacher of 'The Secret' along with his co-author who has created multi-million dollar companies.
This book answers many important questions that you may have about creating a successful business, especially the question of paramount importance 'how am I going to make money in my business?'
Step-by-step,clear, easy to follow instructions.
Another book I recommend is a fantastic New Age Novel I've recently discovered, called "Nexus" by Deborah Morrison & Arvind Singh,
Nexus: A Neo Novel
- One day I was bouncing around the internet and researching as usual and I can't even remember what I was looking for now because once I stumbled onto "The Answer" I ordered it from Amazon. The day it arrived I read it halfway through before putting it down for the first time to break for sleep. After reading it through one time and going back through it again with a highlighter all my pages were yellow. There is so much knowledge and wisdom in between those 2 covers I was absolutely amazed. I have never looked back and I am creating my future everyday now. My life has never been the same since and I am very grateful for this awakening.
Here's to an extraordinary future of success and happiness everyone ...
- Yet another book on the Law of Attraction and how to apply it. I like this authors approach, different and fascinating. I have read many books on the Law of Attraction and my favorite, Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook explains this universal law, gives you an interactive workbook and just does it all.
