The 2007 IRA contribution limit for a both a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA is $4000. This is the same as it was in 2006.
If you are over 50 years old, you may also contribute an extra $1000 as that is the 2007 catch-up contribution limit. This is the same as it was in 2006.

The earliest you can make a contribution to your IRA is January 1st of the calendar year for which you wish to contribute. So for 2007, ir would be Jan. 1st, 2007.

As far as I can tell, the 2007 limits have not been released yet. Just that it will be indexed to inflation.

Why is the max (with catch up provision) for 2007 only $5000K, when the max catch up for 457 plans is $15,500?
