I get spoofed emails all the time from scammers that are on phishing expeditions. I forward the ebay emails to spoof@ebay.com, and the PayPal emails to spoof@paypal.com. I occasionally get spoofed emails appearing to be from Amazon.com, but I don’t think they have an address to forward them to. Or if they do, I don’t know it…and I have looked for one.
I have forwarded dozens of emails to both eBay and PayPal. I always get back a form email from them saying that they looked at the email, and it wasn’t sent from them. They annoyingly go on to describe what a spoofed email is. If I didn’t already know what a spoof email was, why would I have forwarded it to the spoof@ email address? Duh!
What happens with the emails? They say they forward them to the appropriate authorities. Do they shut the web sites? Has anyone been prosecuted? Or am I just wasting my time forwarding these things? Is this only thing that happens is I get a form email back?
The wife of a friend of mine got caught by a phishing email appearing to be by eBay. Her password was immediatly changed, and bunch of high end merchandise was suddenly for auction under her ID including ATVs. She had to jump through a bunch of hoops, but managed to get control of her account again.
These phishing scammers needed to be hunted down and beaten with a baseball bat.
With all of the horror stories in the news about whether Social Security will still be around when I am of retirement age, I am not going to count on it being there. And even if it is there, they will probably change it. Maybe they will raise the age to start collecting again. Or maybe they will reduce the benefits. Who knows. It really ticks me off that I will have paid such a huge amount money into the system only to have my government representitives piss it away on pork projects. Why should they worry about? They spend it now when it will help them get re-elected, but they will be long gone when it is time for me to retire. So I am dumping money into my 401k (which ended over $237,000 yesterday). If I get anything from Social Security fine, but I am not counting on it. Maybe they will change the system so that only the people who didn’t bother to save anything will get any of it. I am sure that whatever happens, I will get screwed.
Apparently Ford is going to make it’s employee who drive non-Ford cars to park across the street from it’s plant. It would seem that some Ford employees found other cars more desirable than the Ford cars they make. It also seems that Ford is trying to punish it’s employees into buying Ford vehicles. Are Ford vehicles bad enough that the company has to force them onto it’s employees?
I earned$1767.46 through Amazon Associates program this last quarter. They supposedly made the payment by direct deposit on 1/25, but it hasn’t my account yet. In the past direct deposits have shown up much quicker than this.
When I get it, I am planning on putting a $1000 into my wife’s Roth IRA to max it out for the 2005 tax year. Not sure what though. I was thinking either more IYR (REIT index fund) or more EEM (emerging markets fund). The markets have gone up a bunch the last day or two. So shares have become more expensive. Thanks Amazon! Watch me buy shares, and then the markets drop!
